About us

This company was built by Brian Coleman and his wife, Carrie. Brian has had over a decade of professional experience in the great outdoors of North Carolina. He started with tree work for more than a year, where he gained valuable experience with tree work, storm work, and learning about native plants. Brian then joined a very reputable landscape and hardscape company, where he worked for nearly a decade. He gained hands-on experience learning the skills of the trade, and was also a Project Manager. He worked for most of those years on the hardscape side of the business, which often included landscape installations. He learned so much! He can definitely build patios, fire pits, walkways, fireplaces, columns, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, as well as install stepping stones, curbing, and more.

Brian is very skilled and meticulous, the quality will show! Not only with his hardscapes- he is great at pruning shrubs, too. He can shape them and help them look the way you want them to look. He is very detail-oriented and loves plants- he will take good care of your outdoor living space. As a small company, Brian is the guy you will meet at your consultation, and you can test his knowledge. Add to that- he is not afraid of hard work. He can absolutely work a shovel just as well as a bobcat or ditch witch. You will not be disappointed!

Beyond professional experience, Brian and Carrie have been building a homestead-type farm, Harvest Drive Farm, with large gardens and a variety of edible landscaping. (Rather than continue this in the third person, this is “us.”) We have five homeschooled children, a fun variety of chickens, guinea fowl, some cats for cuddling and critter patrol, and a very sweet but independent Great Pyrenees to help look after everyone. We appreciate native plants such as Pawpaws (which we’ve gone searching around riverbeds to harvest, and are now growing our own). We have other creative planting adventures, such as attempting to get our Blue Java Ice Cream banana trees to produce in this climate. You can learn more about these homestead and farming adventures on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HarvestDriveFarm/

For as long as he can remember, Brian has enjoyed the outdoors, and he is especially interested in gardening. He has spent countless hours researching things about climate and soil conditions, nutrients, remedies to various issues, and more. He has been interested in learning about many of our local native plants as well as interesting exotics. He can certainly help your plants thrive, and give advice and tips for your garden needs, edible landscape needs, as well as ornamental plant information. This has truly been his lifelong passion, let his knowledge and experience be helpful to you! He also loves learning and would enjoy a conversation about your gardening history.
